El Circo – Acrobata Garnacha

OK – this is a one has a fancy Spanish name for the wine. It sits on the tongue in a lovely way, not spicy like a Shiraz. It has some gusto. I am having this with meat cooked in awesome pot. It has a nice linger, not too deep that it weighs down the mouth but is a serious note; it’s not a light fluffy note – it’s a serious note of wine taste that’s left in the mouth. Slightly moist on the mouth, very nice with cooked red meat.

El Abastro – Malbec

Now, this is amazing. The colour is so dark. It appears so bold yet when you drink it, it’s so soft. I’m eating this with a amazingly cooked chicken satay dish on the Weber. And the taste just lingers in your mouth beautifully. Not too spicy not too soft.

Now that is the song from the new Beauty and the Beast. After a sip, it tastes like the highs and lows both hitting at the same time, like a kick and a punch together, or sweet and sour. They are so close yet so far, and so indistinguishable. The low down gentleness of a Cabernet Sauvignon with just the slightest hint of a Shiraz spice. The smell of the wine is what will catch you and is very beautiful. It feels like evening dining in Paris at its finest.

Western Cellars California, Zinfandel

It is a beautifully smooth wine! amazing! And warm down in the throat. I don’t think I have ever tasted a wine this smooth before. Beautifully smooth is all I can say.

Note: for those not familiar a Zinfandel wine, it is a wine which comes from grapes produced in California, the second most popular after Cabernet Sauvignon [1].

Taylors, Jaraman, Shiraz 2017

I’m drinking this with home made Boeuf Bourguignon. Its got an amazing taste! I had it for a movie night last night as a special treat…its almost syrupy, its got a strong wine flavour…like…

Yeah!

Just having another sip…its a classic wine. Like one of those ones deep in a cellar that have been there for a long time that are high quality. Think slightly overripe deep red grapes that have been made into wine. Think of yourself as getting the royal treatment when you drink this.

Howling Wolves, Shiraz, 2018

Very sharp. Almost as if it was sparkling, but it is actually the spice of the Shiraz on your tongue. I’m drinking it with lamb koftas, and the spice of the lamb has almost the same feeling on the mouth but with a slightly different taste. If you want a bit of pizazz, with a pleasant aftertaste, a warm hearty feel, and local – try the Howling Wolf.

Get this in the local wines (Busselton, WA) section from your local Liquorland for around $18.

Warburn Estate, Rumours, Cabernet Merlot 2019

This wine…how do I describe it? It’s got a body, but no feet or head. Its got the roundness…but it’s like the Bounty’s Revenge at Adventure World – a ride they used to have that is now no longer there. It was a massive ship that would swing on a pivot. It’s like being on that Bounty’s Revenge in the middle – it’s satisfying when the ship swings past the middle point and you feel gravity pulling you down into your seat. But just like when the ship swings up to the left and right sides and you feel momentarily weightless, this wine has no lower or upper edge – it’s just a Bb (b flat) the whole way through. It’s like it’s just treble – staying there the whole time. Lacks character, but, is quite gentle in the mouth.

Should be around $5 at Dan Murphey’s.

Billy’s Shadow, Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Smells either cheap in one way, but also like an authentic French restaurant; like that smell walking down the city streets in France along all the restaurants. It’s a cheap wine…its not got much heart; a bit childish. It’s just empty; its got the tops and bottom of the wine – that top bitter and bottom tang – and that’s about all. It’s almost like a Shiraz mixed with water to soften it out.

Ask a friend to find you a bottle (it’s only $5 or 6)!

Pensilva, Limestone Coast, Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

This is a real wine. Compared to cheap $5 wines, which taste like they either have water in them or a spice added to bring out a strong note in the mouth, its got depth, a very nice aftertaste, and just liners very nicely in the mouth. Lovely.

Ask a friend to pick up a bottle and bring it to your next meal.

What is better than an omelette with white wine? I don’t know. Maybe garlic bread, omelette and white wine. It’s refreshing, like someone throwing a cricket ball at you, which would hurt, which is like drinking a red wine sometimes. But you drink this white wine and it’s like “Ooh, I wasn’t expecting that!” Like the pleasant smell from a plant, or the surprise you get when you win lottery (not that I’ve ever had that), or when a car repair that was going to cost thousands only costs hundreds. It’s like “Ooh, that’s not bad!”
